Enjoy a 7 week course in
Natural History sponsored by ECOS and taught by naturalist and author Ruth Schottman, held in nearby nature preserves. The topics covered will be
identification and ecology of late summer flowers, ferns , woody plants,
fungi and whatever we meet in “the
field” or topics suggested by the students.

Ruth has a BS degree in Genetics from Cornell University
College of Agriculture. She has been teaching various natural history courses
for over 40 years and is the author of Trail Side Notes, A Naturalist's
Companion to Adirondack Plants.
The classes will be held on Wednesdays from 9-12, beginning September 15
through October 27.
Pre-registration is required by September 10. Ruth will be available
from that date on if you have questions and/or suggestions. (399-5728 or
tschottman@nycap.rr.com) Maximum class size is 12. The course is free to those
who lead or co-lead a Tuesday ECOS walk. The course fee for others is $45 for
ECOS members and $55 for non-members.
The first class will meet at the ECOS office in the
Niskayuna Community Center, 2682 Aqueduct Road, in Niskayuna. Students should come prepared to go outside.
