Spring Flower Walks – CANCELED
May 12 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am
MAY 12 Joralemon Memorial Park: Designated best in our area by a retired state botanist. The limestone bedrock of this preserve provides a wonderful habitat for wildflowers in spring, as well as fern-filled dells, plus there’s an historic lime kiln dating back to the Civil War. Ed Kautz will be our leader.
Directions: Take Rt. 890 east to the Thruway; take the Thruway east to exit 22 (Selkirk), then take Rt. 144 south to meet Rt. 143. Follow Rt. 143 about 2.5 miles to Starr Rd. (Rt. 102). Turn right on 102, and go half a mile north to Joralemon Park.
Meeting time at the trailhead is 9:30 a.m.; walks usually last around 2 hours. You may want to bring shoes and trekking poles or sticks for hills, mud, water, or ice along the trails.
