Source to Sea

March 5, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join Riverkeeper and ECOS: The Environmental Clearinghouse for a screening and panel discussion of two short films by National Geographic filmmaker Jon Bowermaster: Source to Sea and Undamming the Hudson River.

Source To Sea documents the efforts by Riverkeeper and its partner organizations to answer the proverbial question, “How’s the water?” The film shows how nearly 200 volunteer citizen scientists collect monthly samples from the Hudson River and its tributaries, and how the cleaned-up river is being used by more and more, by swimmers, beer-makers and communities that depend on it for drinking water.

Undamming the Hudson River showcases Riverkeeper’s efforts to restore natural habitat by eliminating obsolete dams throughout the Hudson River Estuary.

The screenings will be followed by a Q&A with Jon Bowermaster, Riverkeeper’s Water Quality Program Director Dan Shapley and Professor of Geology and Director of Environmental Services as well as founder of the Mohawk Watershed Alliance Dr. John Garver.

The event is March 5, 2020 from 6 PM—8 PM at the 1st Reformed Church and is free of charge. For more information, contact Rebecca Martin, Campaign Manager of the Water Quality Program at Riverkeeper [email protected] or call 845-750-7295.

In partnership with the First Reformed Church of Schenectady, Schoharie River Center, The Capital Region Interfaith Creation Care Coalition (CRICCC), Mohawk Watershed Alliance and Schenectady County Environmental Advisory Committee (SCEAC)
