Spring Flower Walks – CANCELED

JUNE 2   Canal Park at Lock 4: Canal Park is located at Lock 4 of the Champlain Canal on the Hudson River.  Jackie Donnelly will take us down well-maintained and relatively easy trails that run along both the canal and the Hoosic River.  The park offers both mixed-forest and alluvial habitats, supporting such interesting plants as green dragon and deerberry and many other woodland, riparian, and floodplain plants.

Directions: The village of Stillwater is located on US Rt. 4, a few miles north of Mechanicville.  If coming from the west, cross the Hudson River on the bridge in the middle of the village, and watch for the entrance to Canal Park/Lock 4 on the right, immediately after crossing the river.  There is a large parking area adjacent to the lock.

Meeting time at the trailhead is 9:30 a.m.; walks usually last around 2 hours.  You may want to bring shoes and trekking poles or sticks for hills, mud, water, or ice along the trails.  Directions are from the closest major road.  Anyone who wishes to carpool may contact Steve Jones, [email protected], 518-381-1826.  Notice of cancellation or other changes can be found at www.ecosny.org or www.facebook.com/ecosny.
