Come celebrate with ECOS on our Golden Anniversary in the beautiful and comfortable Van Curler Ballroom at SUNY Schenectady! We’ll have a silent auction on some exciting prizes while scrumptious hors d’oeuvres will be served prior to the main event. Wine service will be available for libation needs and a delicious buffet dinner – to satisfy any dinner craving – will be provided by the talented students of the SUNY Schenectady Culinary Arts program! We’ll follow our dinner with the presentation of this year’s Rachel Carson Award honoree and then introduce our honored keynote speaker.
Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Brooke Bateman, Director of Climate Science at the National Audubon Society, presenting “Birds are Telling Us to Act on Climate Change.” Dr. Bateman will speak on the latest climate change research and it’s affect on birds as well as the conservation efforts she and National Audubon are conducting to mitigate the effects of climate change on wildlife habitats around the nation and beyond. She will focus on how bird populations are responding to the changing climate and share some ideas on how we here in the Capital Region can adjust what we do in our daily lives to help the environment in our communities contributing to the overall preservation of critical habitats animals need here in and beyond our region.
Additionally, we’ll have a special inspiring video message from noted environmentalist and climate activist Bill McKibben touting ECOS’ 50th Anniversary and our decades of work, so you won’t want to miss that!
