“Early Watercraft in the Northeast”
January 20 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Seafaring and travel on inland waterways likely played key roles in the earliest settlement and dispersal of human groups throughout the Western Hemisphere, and provided an important link between Native American groups in New York and surrounding areas. Archaeologist Dr. Daria Merwin will discuss evidence of early watercraft in the Northeast, and the implications of water-borne technology for subsistence, settlement, and exchange.
